Inflatable Kayaks

Drop-stitch kayaks have become increasingly popular on the market in recent years and are establishing themselves in the field of inflatable kayaks. Drop-stitch kayaks come in different designs. In some models, drop-stitch material is used only for the bottom, only for the side chambers, or for the entire boat. According to the manufacturer, this technology makes the air kayak stiffer and improves driving characteristics.

Inflatable kayaks with a full drop stitch construction have material used for both the floor and the side chambers. These kayaks are also known as full drop stitch kayaks or high pressure kayaks. Due to their thin sidewalls, they are significantly less stable than inflatable kayaks with I-Beam or drop-stitch floors.

There is also a difference in air pressure between models. The stiffness of the floor and side chambers is determined by the air pressure. It is common for air pressures to range from 0.5 to 1.0 bar. The kayak is very dimensionally stable even at 0.5 bar, which means it has a well-formed bottom for solid performance on water. Additionally, some manufacturers provide hard shell elements at the bow and stern tip of the kayak, so that the kayak has a typical V-shape and has improved paddling properties.
